Inhoudelijke beschrijving: Honourable Willem Jacob Henri Berend Sandberg (Amersfoort, October 24, 1897 - Amsterdam, April 9, 1984) designer and typographer, was from 1945 to 1963 director of the Stedelijk Museum (SM) in Amsterdam, where he worked since 1938. He was a graphic designer. He was a member of the family Sandberg. Under Sandberg's leadership, the SM has developed into an internationally renowned center for modern art. He rose early to open the experiment of the Cobra movement, and introduced - like the Museum of Modern Art in New York - a collection and exhibition policy which includes industrial design, photography and graphic design were discussed. The quality provided by the reproduction department was established leader in the museum world.
